The internet is full of "best" lists that were never tested by a real person, written by people who don't cook, and updated only when the affiliate commissions stopped coming in. We built KitchenRankings to be different.
Our promise: every product we recommend is one we've actually used, tested, and would genuinely recommend to a friend.
Kitchen gadgets are deeply personal. What works for a family of five is different from what works for a couple in a small apartment. What matters to a home baker is different from what matters to a weekend griller. Our job is to help you find the right tool for your kitchen — not just the most popular product on Amazon.
We research every category exhaustively, purchase or borrow the products ourselves (we don't accept free products from manufacturers in exchange for positive coverage), put them through real-world cooking tests, and then write honest assessments of what we found. If a product disappoints us, we say so.
How We Review Products
Our review process is designed to be systematic, fair, and representative of real home cooking scenarios:
Category Research
We start by identifying the top-selling and most-reviewed products in a category, then narrow to the ones with consistent quality signals (ratings, review volume, brand reputation).
Purchase or Source
We purchase products with our own funds or borrow them from people who own them. We do not accept products from manufacturers in exchange for coverage — this is non-negotiable.
Structured Testing
Each product goes through a consistent set of tests for its category. Air fryers: 5+ cooking sessions across different foods. Knives: 2+ weeks of daily cooking. Coffee makers: 50+ brew cycles across multiple weeks.
Scoring Criteria
We score products on: performance, ease of use, ease of cleaning, build quality, value for money, and longevity. Each category has category-specific sub-criteria.
Ongoing Updates
Rankings are reviewed when: new products launch that could change the category, prices change significantly, or we receive credible reader feedback that challenges our assessment.
Editorial Standards
- We don't rank products we haven't tested. "Best" lists without hands-on testing aren't reviews — they're advertising. We don't do that.
- We don't accept sponsored placements. No brand can pay to appear in our rankings. Our #1 picks are our honest #1 picks.
- We disclose all conflicts of interest. If we have a business relationship that could influence a review, we'll tell you.
- We fix mistakes. If we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and transparently.
- We're transparent about what we don't know. If we haven't tested long-term durability, we say so.

It doesn't. Our rankings and recommendations are based solely on our editorial assessment of product quality, value, and fit for different use cases. We earn the same affiliate commission percentage regardless of which product you buy — so there's no financial incentive to recommend a more expensive product over a better-value one.
We have recommended $15 products over $200 products when the $15 product genuinely serves readers better. We will continue to do so.
